Worked for me
The laser DOES work....But it is a lot of work and dedication ! I really hoped to do the legs, but I only have time for underarms, because I have a 1 year old who keeps me so busy I hardly ever have time for myself. So...this laser is really only for people who have all the time in the world and here is why : The laser window is sooo small that it takes a really long time to properly cover the area you want to treat. You can't just randomly zap yourself. And by the way you cant just relax and watch tv while doing it - you have to pay attention to the process. I've been using this laser on my underarms for about 8 months now,and it worked, the hair slowly disappearing and whichever ones that grow are very very thin and light ( I am a dark brunette ),and the skin is smooth and light , so for me it worked.I am extremely happy about it, although must say I can't even imaging starting treatments on my legs since it takes forever to treat both underarms, and btw,the battery lasts for underarms treatment only, so if you are doing a larger area, be prepared to recharge (takes about 3 hrs) and remember where you stopped. I am still planning to do my legs since I know this laser actually works, but i will have to wait, maybe when my baby goes to day care I'll have more time.
Also, this laser is very heavy, which can tell you that it's not a flimsy product. But when you are doing your underarms you will need a break and some rest for your hands!
I would give this laser 5 stars since it worked on me, but I wish the laser window was much bigger,so that way you can treat larger area, but for now it's just takes forever and gets annoying after a while.
Also, it hurts...yes, it does. It only doesnt hurt when on level 1, but when on level 2 and especially 3 it zaps you. Mostly on sensitive areas.

Can't get it to unlock!!!??????
I just purchased this product and followed the directions exactly to unlock the device and it doesn't work.
I activated it correctly, I charged it correctly, unplugged it as instructed and hit the power button to turn the device on and nothing happens. What indicates the power is on?
I put the sensor against my skin correctly, the green light came on and I then put the sensor face it and waved it up and down near the indicator lights as instructed and nothing happened.
I already wrote to customer service and have not heard back from them.
Thank you
Diane

It does work - just takes time
I have spent thousands on medspa laser hair removal and up until a few month ago, I was still going for treatments. I decided to give this a try, and am I glad I did. To my surprise - it really does work. I started just doing 1 arm, 1 leg, and my chin/upper lip. It has been almost 2 months. Progress is slow on the face and I can't say for sure that I'm getting any results there. On the arm, I have noticed incremental reductions of about 20%.
The real surprise has been on my leg. Already I have a reduction of about 60%, and the hair that is growing in is growing much slower. I shaved both legs at the same time and then let them grow back in for a few days. The untreated leg has significant stuble. The treated leg looks almost as if I just shaved it with just a few stray hairs here and there. These results in this area are motivating me to keep going with the rest.
Unlike the medspa LHR, this doesn't singe the hairs and cause them to fall out in the same way. They suggest shaving first and then using the product. I did that on my leg, but not my arm or face - perhaps that is somehow related to my results.

Early Review--planned updates
Ok I guess I will try to keep this updated as time comes along.
First, some background. I went through about 6 IPL sessions back in 2004/2005 and I simply ran out of money to keep paying $250 per session. For those that say that ALL hair grows back after some point with laser treatments, this is not the case for ME. I don't know for others, but after 6 sessions, and now over 5 years since my last treatment, about 60% of the hair I used to have (chest+stomach) is still gone, and I think after 5 long years one can call it "permanent." Because so much hair was reduced over time I never saw the point in going back (I also didn't want to spend on it!) since shaving what was left was easier.
So here I am 5 years later and I saw this and I said why not?! For $495 I'll finish the job finally. I have heard but cannot confirm that actual lasers are more effective than IPL, which this Tria is. So in theory this might be equal to or better than the professional treatments I got 5 years ago. If I go by the pain...they are equal (Tria at highest setting) and if that's any kind of measure of effectiveness vis-a-vis professional lasers then I think I can be optimistic!
I've had the chance to do 2 sessions. So obviously not much to report results wise. However as a product, I think this is pretty good for the home market. But it can definitely be improved upon. Starting with the size of the laser area. It really really is way too small. It's smaller than the area of a dime! So if you wanted to laser both your legs, unless you want to spend countless hours that would add up to several days trying to finish, maybe you are better off waiting for a future revision where I HOPE they double the area at the very least. Perhaps this would not be a problem if the battery actually lasted more than 20 minutes (at highest setting) before running out (recharging it fully takes 3 hours!--now you know why it would add up to days to do your legs!). I managed to complete my chest and stomach fully with 3 charges. The inferior batter would also not be a problem if they allowed this to work plugged in. I seriously do not understand why they would only allow use by battery--I can guess why though--planned obsolescence most likely: the Tria will only work after 300 charges. But it is simply ridiculous that it cannot be used plugged in.
So...bottom line: for small areas or the most patient among you this is very much worth it (even with its flaws). Like I said above professional treatments can run from $200 and up each. It will probably work (I will update with results over time) and you will save a ton of money. One tip I got from another review below was to use a white pencil eyeliner to make a grid so you know where you are and how much you have zapped--it really helps.
Overall, I am so far satisfied, I understand its drawbacks and for the convenience/price of doing it at home these are worth it to me. If you can afford dropping two grand on professional treatment packages go for that, if not then this is a great alternative. Again, it should work but I cannot yet make a definitive statement based on experience.
Since the product was updated a year and a half ago, they will probably release version 3.0 soon. It might be worth it to wait a bit longer to see if they address some of those flaws. I simply just got too excited to wait!

TRIA laser hair removal
I've used the TRIA laser for one month now and so far I'm happy with the results. I look forward to a year from now when hopefully I'll no longer have to shave.
